West Midtown Intermodal Ferry Terminal

New York, NY · Pier 79

Selected by the New York City Economic Development Corporation from a short list of New York's top design firms, the studio designed the new West Midtown Intermodal Ferry Terminal on Pier 79 at West 39th Street. The municipally owned, multi-user facility provides ferry service for short-haul commuters, water taxis, and high-speed long-distance services from Midtown Manhattan to points along the Hudson River — a state-of-the-art terminal with six new boat slips, planned as part of the larger Hudson River Park development.

P.S. 130

P.S. 130

New York, NY · $20 Million

Retained by the School Construction Authority to lead design for the new addition and modernization of P.S. 130 in New York City, the studio delivered a five-story, approximately 40,000-square-foot addition with a new cafeteria, a two-level gymnasium, and a rooftop playground, along with extensive renovations to the 60,000-square-foot existing building in this $20 million project.

Cargo & Distribution Centers

Cargo & Distribution Centers

Various Locations

The studio has designed numerous cargo and distribution centers for airline and consumer-based clients — complex structures with advanced technological needs. A prime example is the JC Penney distribution center in Manchester, CT: two million square feet housing state-of-the-art automated sorting and storage systems, conveyors, a railroad siding, and a major computer center. Special attention was given to employee areas to create a warm, comfortable environment, with careful climate and humidity control for storage and data areas.

Urban Housing

Urban Housing

Brooklyn, Painted Post & Oneonta, NY

For the New York State Urban Development Corporation, the studio designed and delivered a considerable number of housing units — middle- to low-income housing and housing for the elderly — in Brooklyn, Painted Post, and Oneonta. Careful planning and creative design produced stable, comfortable neighborhood environments with a functional design quality rarely found in this building type.
